More than 2 million bombs were dropped during the Vietnam War of the 1960s and 1970s, leaving behind a vast number of undiscovered UXO, including cluster munitions. Decades after the conflict ended, the effects of UXO are still felt in Laos, with at least 100-300 people injured or killed by UXO each year.
Beginning in 2010, AAR JAPAN has been supplying first aid boxes for responding to UXO-related accidents, as well as offering first aid training to village health volunteers in the northern town of Xieng Khouang.
