public awareness

AAR JAPAN actively carries out public awareness programs through events and lectures to promote the understanding, both at home and abroad, on “emergency assistance,” “mine action,” “assistance to persons with disabilities” and “action against infectious diseases” we are providing in Asia and Africa.
We aim to have more people become interested in international issues that AAR JAPAN is concerned with, and hope to involve these people in some of our activities.

Events
action report meeting

AAR JAPAN actively implements public awareness programs, including action report meetings held by overseas staff members, and lectures on mines and charity concerts.

We frequently hold report meetings whenever our overseas staff members return to Japan, and they report what is happening in the countries they work in to our supporters through photographs and video clips.

photoAAR JAPAN’s overseas staff members report on their activities and on the local people’s lives. Ryo KAKUTANI, a staff member stationed in Tadzhikistan, reported the affairs of the nation, which are not well known by the Japanese people, and AAR JAPAN’s actions there (at Toyama Campus of Gakushuin Women’s College).
workshop on mines

AAR JAPAN holds workshops on mines for children by obtaining cooperation from shops, juvenile facilities and community centers.

photoAAR JAPAN holds a workshop on mines in order for children to become familiar with the mine problem. The photo shows a mine-searching game. The children try to find buried mines by looking at a map. This activity allows them to understand the possible dangers they would face in their daily lives if mines were buried in the areas they live in. (at JUSCO Haebaru shop in Okinawa).
charity concert

Musicians that participated in recently held charity concerts:

Atsuko TEMMA, Masashi SADA, Saori YUKI, Shoko YASUDA, Seiji OZAWA, ROSTROPOVICH, Hiroko NAKAMURA, Shinichi MORI, Tetsuko KUROYANAGI, Akihiro MIWA, Tsutomu ARAGAKI, Terumasa HINO, and more.

lectures at school

AAR JAPAN presents lectures at corporations, schools and other meetings. We also take in student visitors who come to our office to learn more about NGOs.

We take in students for school excursion at our office.

photoWe recommend that you visit AAR JAPAN office as part of school excursion program. Each year many junior/high school students from all over the country visit the AAR JAPAN office. Staff members at our Tokyo office brief the refugee and mine problems and answer any questions.

Corporations offer cooperation to AAR JAPAN within variety of ways. They place donation collection boxes in offices, purchase “Sunny-chan” goods for gifts used in their parties, and their employees join us as volunteers.

photoCorporations join international cooperation programs with a variety of manners.
The Seven & I Avesco Fund, established by Ito Yokado and six beverage makers, donates a part of the income from vending machines set up in parking areas of Ito Yokado stores to AAR JAPAN continuously since 2002.
