AAR has been building wells and water towers near Kapoeta City in South Sudan, as well as organizing water management committees and giving training to the mechanics to ensure that the local people can maintain the wells and water towers independent of international aid.
AAR JAPAN has also been encouraging improvement of sanitation conditions, including the use of sanitary toilet facilities and the regular washing of hands. While respecting the local culture, AAR JAPAN has secured the cooperation of residents in the construction and ongoing maintenance of sanitary toilet facilities.

South Sudan
Malaria is the most common disease at clinics in Kapoeta. AAR JAPAN is distributing mosquito nets and organizing educational sessions on malaria prevention, with a focus on children and pregnant women, who are more vulnerable to disease.
